About Darla
It all comes down to choice. You can leave the choices in your life up to others or you can make your own. Darla chooses to make her own!
Early on she decided that whatever she did, it was going to be done with creativity and become an expression of all of her talents. She views life as a blank canvas that is constantly changing and being refined but never really finished. Darla wishes she had nine lives like a cat so she could do everything she wanted to do in one lifetime, but even nine would not be enough! So far she has been an educator, assistant professor, PR professional, magazine editor, graphic artist, interior designer, educational trainer, author, columnist, and professional speaker. Add to that a personal life that includes being a wife, mother, only daughter, sister, aunt and more to her large family and you understand why Darla relates so well to her audiences; she has been where they are, busy people with lives.
She enjoys sharing stories about her family when speaking because they are true and undoubtedly some of the funniest stories ever heard. She rarely allows her family to hear her speak because she’s afraid they’ll realize they are some of her best material!
Darla values people and believes her friendships are one of her best strengths. She encourages everyone to practice “The Art of Being Still” by taking five minutes each day to clear your mind of negative messages and be physically still, thus allowing the clarity of purpose, focused productivity and peace into your work and relationships.
Her goal is to show you how to:
- Take personal responsibility for your life
- Use creative thinking to see opportunities and possibilities
- Give of yourself without giving your energy away
- Create the life you want to live
She lives in central Missouri with her husband Paul and daughter Doran, but who knows where she will end up!
