TECH SUPPORT

It used to be so easy. When you purchased an appliance, gadget or product it came with an owners manual that you could read, hold onto and hopefully put away where it could be found if something happened to go wrong. In fact, if you ever reached the stage of actually knowing where your owner's manuals were you are considered to be quite organized. (Just so you know, mine are tucked away in a lidded box under my bed, unfortunately, no one else in the house can remember that so if something happens to me we're all in trouble!) Not so anymore. Electronics might come with a small manual or get started guide, but the real information you need to actually understand how to use the item is only accessible on their website or by phoning tech support.

In the last six months our household added a new digital camera, an ipod, and two new cell phones. Much thought was given to the features and attributes of each as I debated which would be the best deal for our family. I poured over information on line and asked store clerks numerous 'dumb questions' (I know, I know, there are none.) in order to make the best purchase. Can I operate these items? Yes. Do I have a clue of how to use all the features they come with? NO. I'm starting to wonder if anyone ever really understands or uses all the features they just had to have and paid extra money for. I know we're all busy but in a way it is sad that we use only a small percentage of our gadget's potential. They were made to do more, to be of use more, yet we become content with taking the easy way out and learning only what we need to know to get by. It is not the creator's problem, it is our problem.

And so it is with people. I believe we were created with many features, many abilities, and many talents that we never use or are aware of. It is not our creator's fault, it is our own. We choose to limit ourselves, to continue with our negative thoughts and small comfort zones and ignore the hidden answers and possibilities lying dormant within us that could be accessed to change our lives for the better. Extracting these hidden treasures and bringing them to the forefront isn't always an easy process. It might take time; it might take work; it might involve risk; it might be scary! So we stay, stuck in the mud of safety, knowing we were made to do more and doing nothing about it.

I wish it were easier. I wish I could go online to http://www.darlaarni.com/lifesupport and find all the answers of what I should do and when I should do it so my true destiny can be fulfilled. I believe we all have several possible paths to our destiny, because there are many ways to accomplish the same task and we have the freedom of choice.

I guess what I want to say to you is this, don't spend another minute wondering what your life could have been and start the journey of becoming the most authentic you. If you feel you have done that and you are there, hurrah! You are blessed. If you still have a nagging inside that makes you feel there is more to be done, begin by writing down these needs and wants on index cards or a small notebook or your hand if you have to until the direction comes together and smacks you in the face! And when it does, I'll bet your true self will reply, "I've known this all along."

* If you would like my help getting started on this journey, email me for information about my "Living the Creative Life" one-on-one individual tele-conference sessions. They are all about you and can be started at anytime!

QUOTE OF THE MONTH

"Often people attempt to live their lives backwards; they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want." ~Margaret Young

RETREAT: LAST CALL

I am currently developing retreats for women aimed at self restoration that will allow you to renew, restore, and rediscover yourself with fun and learning thrown in. Retreats will initially be held in picturesque Arrow Rock, Missouri (www.arrowrock.org) allowing you to get away for peace and reflection without the travel hassle. Soon we will start booking for early January 2008. If you would like to be on the email list for retreat updates please email me. Thank you!
